First Monday Trade Days is about 60 miles east of Dallas off Interstate 20 in Canton, Texas. Historically, the name originated from a judge that would stop in the town on the first Monday of every month to attend to court proceedings. At that time (the 1850s) people would come into town to purchase supplies for their home and sit in on the action of the day, which was usually a hanging or some other court pronouncement. Through the years First Monday grew and the City of Canton purchased land for people to conduct trading or sales. Now, Trade Days start on Thursday go through to Sunday before the first Monday of the month and do not include Monday at all. What you will find at First Monday Trade Days is everything from authentic antiques, vintage furniture, clothing, books and some original Texas art. You don't have to wait until the State Fair of Texas to enjoy Fair food. At First Monday Trade Days they have funnel cakes and corn dogs. Non-aggressive dogs are allowed but must be on a leash and owners must be responsible for their pet's waste. Best tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes like sneakers, not flip-flops.

Third Monday Trade Days started in the 1870s. Located two miles west of I-75 on US 380/University Dr., McKinney's Third Monday Trade Days is more than just hair bows and camo clothes though you will find those there. Third Monday also has furniture (a mix of shabby chic and western), home décor, outdoor decorations including metal art, clothing. Although puppies are sold at Third Monday, bringing dogs and other animals to the Trade Days is prohibited. Parking is $5 and free after 3 p.m. on the weekends. Best tip: Come on Friday when parking is free.

This "night time" market started in the early 70s and parking was free. Vendors set up on Friday around 6:00 p.m. and the best shopping deals occur from 9:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday. This all night shopping market is great for computer and electronic buyers and got its roots from ham radio enthusiasts that wanted to get together. This electronic flea market goes rain or shine, sun or snow on the first Saturday of the month. Although the event occurs in the West End, no alcohol is allowed on the plaza. There is no free parking in the West End. Best tip: Go to the website and get a discount code for $2 off the parking rate that is normally $5.
