"Death and the Powers" by Tod Machover is a deep family drama that combines science fiction to create a story about a terminally ill billionaire who tries to use his powers to persuade his loved ones to join him in a downloadable world called "the System." The performances by Robert Orth, Joelle Harvey, Patricia Risley and Hal Cazalet beckon you to explore the question of what is human life without the possibility of touch, sex, suffering and death. It is sung in English with English subtitles. Tickets range from $19 to $249.

As part of the Winspear Opera House Recital Series, Andre Watts will be performing. At the tender age of 16, Watts was picked by Leonard Bernstein to make his debut with the New York Philharmonic as part of its Young People's Concerts. This concert was broadcasted nationwide on CBS-TV. Two weeks later, Bernstein asked Watts to be a substitute for Glenn Gould who was ailing in health for Liszt's "E-Flat Concerto." Thus began Watts' career as a world-class performer. Tickets range from $20 to $70.

An unabridged stage reading of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare includes the story of "Troilus and Cressida." Set during the Trojan War, Troilus falls in love with Cressida who is playing hard to get. Greek mythology heroes including Ulysses, Achilles and Ajax are featured as they try to end the war. In true Shakespearean style, the classic story is a tragedy that covers love, betrayal and jealousy. Tickets are $10.
