A billiards game in a bar can be just the thing to help wind down on a weekday evening. A drink with friends while shooting a game of pool is an activity that has been enjoyed for centuries. Since pool tables are pricey and take up a large amount of space, they aren't practical for most people to have in their homes. Therefore, sports bars are often the best place to find them. The game only takes concentration during your turn, so it's a good game for socializing. Here are some of the best bars for billiards in Dallas/Fort Worth.

Sherlock's Baker St. Pub
254 Lincoln Square Center
Arlington, TX 76011
(817) 226-2300

Sherlock's Baker St. Pub is an English pub with divided spaces for eating, drinking and live music. There is also a room for billiards. It isn't a huge room, but it has a good amount of space dedicated to playing. There is always a decent crowd standing around chatting and waiting for their turn at a table. The music playing overhead, or live music in the next room, adds to the atmosphere as well.

Stan's Blue Note
2908 Greenville Ave.
Dallas, TX 75206
(214) 827-1977
www.facebook.com/stansbluenote

Stan's Blue Note has been a staple among Dallas sports bars for decades. It keeps a pretty low profile for a bar that is this well known around the area. There is a steady, but small crowd on any given night. However, big sporting events tend to make for a bit busier night. The pool table is squeezed between a shuffleboard game and other tables, so there isn't a lot of room for trick shots. For the casual pool player though, the sports bar atmosphere surrounding it makes for a good time no matter what.

Woody's is not your average sports bar. Although the televisions sometimes show big games, the rest of the time there are music videos playing overhead. This British pub in Allen is the fifth The Londoner in the area. A full menu of British and American food will keep your stomach happy when a game of pool turns into a full night. Mondays are $3 craft beer nights at The Londoner, so you can satisfy your hipster beer cravings without spending much money. Lakewood Landing
5818 Live Oak St.
Dallas, TX 75214
(214) 823-2410
www.lakewood-landing.com

Lakewood Landing is a self-proclaimed upscale dive bar, but "upscale" is a little generous. The small bar is dimly lit with ripped red booths along the back wall. Lakewood locals sit on bar stools and chat about their troubles or shoot pool in the "pool cave," as the Dallas Observer recently deemed it. The magazine actually named it the "Best Pool Table Cave 2013." It is a small, dark area with a beat-up couch, but the memories and traditions of the old pool table give it more clout than most of the places in town.
