Beltre Wins Rangers 'Heart And Hustle' Award

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Adrian Beltre has been named the Texas Rangers 2014 Heart and Hustle Award winner as voted by former Major League Baseball players.

The award -- which honors active players who "demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game" -- is awarded to one player from each of the league's 30 teams.

It is the only award in MLB that is voted on by former players.

"Adrian plays with passion and respects the game," said Texas Rangers Hall of Famer Tom Grieve. "He holds himself accountable and is a great teammate."

Later in the season, fans, league alumni, and all active players will vote to select the final winner from the 30 teams. The final winner will be announced on Nov. 18 at the 15th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City.
