Beltre Captures Fifth Gold Glove Award; Moreland Wins First

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Adrian Beltre (3B) and Mitch Moreland (1B) have won the Rawlings gold glove award at their respective positions.
According to the Rangers, Beltre won for the fifth time, while Moreland won for the first time.

Catcher Jonathon Lucroy was also nominated in the National League for the award, but lost out to Giants' catcher Buster Posey.
Beltre was among the leaders in the American League in multiple categories: double plays turned (2nd), assists (2nd), putouts (3rd), total zone runs (1st) and range factor (2nd). Beltre won the award over Seattle's Kyle Seager and Baltimore's Manny Machado.
Mitch Moreland had the best fielding percentage (.998) among American League First Baseman in 2016. He was up against three-time winner Eric Hosmer of the Royals and Orioles' first-baseman Chris Davis.
The gold glove is voted on by managers and coaches around the league, though they are prohibited from voting for their own players.
