ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers manager Jeff Banister is one of three finalists for the AL Manager of the year award. The Baseball Writers Association of America announced the candidates today.

Joining Banister is Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona, and Orioles skipper Buck Showalter.

Despite not having Yu Darvish, Shin-Soo Choo and Prince Fielder for most of the season, Banister still led the club to the best record in the American League during the regular season.

In his two years with Texas, the club has won the AL West Division both times.

Coming into 2015, Texas wasn't seen by many as the favorite to win the division. With the Astros struggling out of the gate, Banister got great performances out of Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus, Rougned Odor and Cole Hamels to propel the club to a 95-win season.

The American League Manager of the Year Award will be unveiled live on MLB Network on Nov. 15.
