AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - Facing three felony securities fraud charges, the pressure on Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to resign appears to be on the rise.

A recent poll shows 78-percent of Republicans are aware of Paxton's recent indictment and 62-percent think he should step down from office.

Fifty-three percent of Tea Party Republicans who helped him get elected said they want to see him gone as well.

Rice University Political Science Chair Mark Jones says while he doesn't expect to see an 'I stand with Ken' movement among Republicans, he also doesn't think they'll push to get rid of him... at least until after a jury has had its say in the matter.

Jones also added that people shouldn't put too much stock in the latest poll, as it was done by robocall and had a small survey size. It was also paid for by a supporter of the man Paxton beat in the Republican Primary.
