DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Detectives are investigating an ATM theft at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas, located at Mockingbird Station, near the intersection of Central Expressway and Mockingbird Lane.

HERE IS SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT

The incident happened just before 4:45 a.m. on Monday.

The movie theater's cleaning crew was inside of the building when the ATM theft took place. The suspects pried open a door on the east side of the building and simply walked in. They used an orange-colored dolly and a crow bar to grab the money machine -- which was not bolted down -- from the first-floor lobby area.

Theater employee Gianna Schneider said that she is shocked by the crime. "Usually we do lock the doors before we all close and everything," she stated Monday morning, "but the cleaning crews, I guess, they lock the doors after they leave and not while they're in there. I'm not sure how that works."

DPD investigators say video surveillance shows a cleaning crew of two was inside when they heard noises coming from downstairs.  Police say one member of the cleaning crew saw the suspects leaving the building with the ATM -- they were wheeling the machine toward a DART Train Station.

There were five suspects total -- three men, wearing dark clothing, hoodies, gloves, and masks, entered the movie theater and two men were driving separate getaway cars.

Police have not yet released a good description of the five men or their vehicles at this time.

No one was injured during this incident.

This is the latest in a string of ATM thefts and theft attempts across the DFW area. Just last week, while investigating a theft in south Dallas, police said that there have been more than 50 cases involving an ATM just this year. The suspects got away with the money machines in at least 24 of those cases, but only 13 suspects have been arrested.
