Athletic Trainers For All DISD High Schools
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Monday is the first day of practice for high school football players and it can be a tough one, especially with the risk of student athletes getting injured on the field. But the Dallas Independent School District will start the year with 22 new athletic trainers to ensure that kids are safe.
When the previous school year ended last spring, the district only had a few licensed athletic trainers. A citizens review committee made the choice to have a trainer working at every one of the high school campuses in the Dallas ISD.
The roles of these athletic trainers are vast, from making sure that students stay safe while practicing outside in the heat, to being prepared to treat any possible injuries on the field.
