Arlington Woman OK After Shots Fired At Her

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Arlington are investigating an early Wednesday shooting that damaged a minivan, but left the female driver unharmed. The incident happened just before 7:00 a.m. at a duplex located near the intersection of Truman Street and Sanford Street, not far from AT&T Stadium.
According to victim Margaret Stamp, this all started as she was leaving a Walmart store. As she was pulling out of the store's parking lot, another vehicle pulled up behind her and began flashing its lights. Stamp slowed down her minivan, thinking that the other driver was an acquaintance.
However, the other driver then became aggressive, the victim said. She called 911 to file a road rage complaint, all while following the suspect's white vehicle to better see the license plate. The pursuit led the victim into a residential neighborhood. That is where a man got out of his car, knelt down and started firing shots.
"I was just hysterical and screaming, 'They shot me! They shot at me! They shot at me!' I can't believe they shot at me. Why would they shoot at me?" she asked.
Stamp said she heard 11 gun shots fly by. At least one of the bullets hit her van and shattered a window. But, thankfully, she wasn't injured and no individuals in the neighborhood were hurt.
The commotion woke up local residents, including several children. "I hear three shots and I get up and thought someone was knocking on my door," recalled neighbor Torres Renato. "When I open the door and go outside, I hear three shots. After that, I see van driving to stop sign and then the officers."
The suspect had already left the scene when police arrived. An investigation is now underway. The white car was found later Wednesday and a person of interest was taken into custody on an unrelated charge. Three other individuals were also arrested on unrelated charges.
Also, police want to warn the public that following aggressive individuals is not recommended. Callers are asked to dial 911 and provide as much information as possible while staying safe.
