ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Arlington police are investigating an accident involving three vehicles that occurred at the 2700 block of North Collins Street that left three people dead Sunday evening.

Police responded to the major crash at approximately 7:30 p.m. and when officers arrived, they found a sedan that had three occupants trapped inside.

Police said one of the passengers of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene while the other two occupants were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Both occupants, one of which was the driver of the sedan, were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said occupants of the other two vehicles involved were not injured.

Detectives believe the sedan was traveling southbound on N. Collins Street, and crossed over into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason. Two other vehicles traveling northbound struck the sedan.

Police said the identities of the deceased will be made by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office after next of kin is notified.
