ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Arlington Police Department is cracking down on impaired driving this holiday weekend.

Arlington police are participating in Tarrant County's "No Refusal" holiday weekend operation, during which those suspected of "impaired driving who refuse to provide a breath test will instead be subject to a court-ordered blood test," the department said in a release.

This program is not a new concept. Many departments across the state run similar programs during holiday weekends or large celebrations. Typically a judge is on duty during the campaigns, making it possible for officers to obtain the necessary warrant to take blood from a suspect.

Arlington police said medical staff will be at its jail to help carry out the No Refusal plan.
