FORT WORTH (CBS11) - Twenty-four hours after a shooting near the Arlington Heights High School campus, concerns about a retaliation incident were apparent. There was a heavier than usual police presence outside and heightened security inside.

"When we got to school all the doors were locked," said student Lamont Conner. "And if you had your ID but didn't have a lanyard around your neck you had to get a temporary ID."

"My friend said there was seven out of 21 students who attended class," said senior Mercedes Cedillo "It's just

"It's crazy, I know," Conner said. "But I understand why people are scared, want to try to stay safe."

We found a staff member reviewing a policy handbook for a lock down during a school shooting or bomb threat. The staff member says it was just in case there was a repeat of yesterday.

The images of the fight leading up to the shooting and of the gunman himself have saturated social media and frayed nerves here.

"I had a panic attack today because the students kept talking about it," Cedillo said. "I just started shaking and crying because I had a panic attack. there's just so much tension in school and there was probably a lot of drama today too. and I saw the pictures of the fight."

The school district sent out a release saying the school day went smoothly. But the superintendent reminds parents now is the time to talk to your student about the seriousness of what is posted on social media.
