ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Friends and family are mourning the death of Carl Wilson, 18, who was shot and killed Monday afternoon.

He was gunned down and left for dead in the middle of Treepoint Drive. Police said the people responsible are fellow students. Monday night, as the crime scene tape comes down, police continue to search for those responsible.

"I'm in shock. Still can't looking at it still can't believe it," said Christian Levy, who knew the teen.

Investigators said they believe Wilson knew his shooter or shooters and that they attended James Martin High School in Arlington.

Friends said the shooting that took Wilson's life may have been the cowardly end to an earlier argument at lunch.

"We believe that this is part of ongoing altercation that started today at a high school -- that all the students, young men involved -- attended," said Chief Tommy Williams with the Kennedale Police Department.

Kenneth Levy, whose son played football with Wilson for the last three years told CBS 11 News the senior had a bright future ahead.

"He had a visit at Kilgore college this weekend going to play football make it and take care of his family," said Levy.

Arlington ISD released a statement that said they are working closely with investigators and that there will be counselors at the school Tuesday for staff and students.

Police said they are talking to several witnesses as this investigation continues.
