ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Students are being evacuated from Gideon Elementary School, in the Mansfield Independent School District.

The Arlington school was put on lockdown after an unverified report of an intruder on campus. Apparently, a student told an adult about a man with a gun in or around the school.

Students were taken from the building to a nearby soccer field.

Police are at the scene investigating.

At around 4:20 p.m. police and school officials helped escort students to the parking lot, to be released to their parents.

After 4:30 p.m. police brought in K-9 officers to help search the building. Officials with the Mansfield ISD Police Department said so far, "the intruder/suspicious person has not been found."
