Are The Rangers Injury Plagued?

DALLAS, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - Without a doubt it's been a tough season for the Texas Rangers so far - and we're not even half-way though the MLB Regular Season.

The biggest issue for the Rangers has been the number of players, specifically pitchers, that have been sent to the DL or even written off for the entire season.

Here is a list of what's happened and where the team is at so far in fighting the dreaded 'injury bug.'

Yu Darvish - Neck Stiffness

The Rangers starter has been battling neck stiffness on-and-off since training camp began. Is it a muscle issue, or is he just sleeping on  it weird? Maybe the Rangers need to invest in some ergonomic pillows?

Prince Fielder - Neck Surgery

In late May the Rangers officially put first baseman Prince Fielder on the disabled list with a herniated disk in his neck. On May 27th Fielder had successful surgery that will require an extended period of rehabilitation and is likely sideline the first-year Ranger for the remainder of the 2014 season.

Matt Harrison - Spinal Fusion Surgery

After leaving a game with lower back stiffness in early May, Rangers starter Matt Harrison had spinal fusion surgery in early June.  That surgery could potentially end his professional career.

Tanner Scheppers - Elbow

Scheppers has been another one going on-and-off the DL since mid April due to elbow issues.

Adrian Beltre - Left Quad

Although he wasn't very happy about it, the Rangers slugger and star 3rd baseman has had his trips to the DL for leg soreness. He spent 15-days on the DL in mid-April for some healing.

Derek Holland - Knee

The Rangers starter has not made an appearance at all this year due to an off-season collision with his dog that landed him in surgery for knee repair. Holland is planning on a June return - according to his many appearances on the Ben & Skin show.

If the Rangers are hoping for any chance at some post-season play, they are going to need to stay healthy! We're not even to the half-way point yet!
