Animal Alumni Gather To Celebrate Adoption From Operation Kindness
CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - It was a furry homecoming of sorts for the animal alumni of Operation Kindness on Saturday.
Operation Kindness, the largest and oldest no-kill shelter in North Texas, hosted its annual reunion picnic for dogs and cats that have been adopted from the shelter.
It's the fifth year the event has taken place, and is attended by 200 people and their furry companions.
According to spokeswoman Julie Goff, the event is completely free.
"It's just a chance to say thank you to our adopters, build our community, and for the staff to see the animals we cared for over the years," Goff said.
The event is attended by mostly dogs -- but sometimes even a cat or two turn up!
Those who attended enjoyed grilled hotdogs and cake for humans, and hotdog bobbing for dogs. There were also free pet caricatures.
Goff tells CBS 11 News that no other shelters do a "furry alumni" gather like Operation Kindness.
