AMBER Alert canceled for 2-year-old El Paso boy after hours-long SWAT standoff
EL PASO – The search for a 2-year-old El Paso boy came to an end March 14 after an hours-long SWAT standoff, CBS4 in El Paso reported.
The boy was abducted by his father, Miguel Montoya, 30. They were last seen in the 11200 block of Kingfish Court in El Paso at 8:45 p.m. March 13.
Police said there was a domestic disturbance call at a house around the time they were last seen on Wednesday. Montoya is accused of pulling out a weapon during a domestic dispute before fleeing with the boy. Montoya was already wanted by police for one domestic violence warrant, CBS4 says.
Montoya and the boy were located after a 911 caller reported a suspicious person at Motel 6 around 1 p.m. March 14.
El Paso police posted on social media that the boy was rescued and that he and Montoya were "safely secured." Montoya faces at least one charge of aggravated kidnapping and additional charges are pending.
Police said the boy appeared safe and unharmed but was being checked on by medical professionals.
The investigation is ongoing.
