DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM ) - It's "ladies night" at Standard and Pour in Uptown Dallas and there is one incident on many minds.

Investigators said a woman trying to make her way home was offered a ride on Saturday around 3 a.m. and instead was raped by the man driving her home.

"It's crazy because the area seems so safe. I moved here because it seemed like such a safe area," said Keri Rich, an Uptown resident.

Rich and her friend Lizzy Weix were a few of the young women on Wednesday who were discussing the incident. Dallas Police said the victim had requested a ride-sharing service like Lyft or Uber but eventually canceled it. Investigators said she then got into a black, Chevy Tahoe where the driver drover her to another location and sexually assaulted her before dropping her off at a gas station.

"That's really scary because because we use Lyft and Uber all the time because we are so close," said Lizzy Weix. "I'm normally on high alert but I think this is going to it for a lot of people after hearing about this because people in Uptown don't expect things to happen as they've been happening."

Others who use ride-sharing services such as Lyft and Uber said the incident does not change anything.

"I guess it always gets a little bit in the back of your head just to be secure about it. Just to make sure everything is okay. But I feel safe when I use it," said Jessika Di Paulo, an Uptown resident.

It is not clear to police yet if the driver was a legitimate taxi or ride-sharing driver or just posing as one.

Calls to Lyft and Uber were not returned.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Dallas Police.
