Alleged Drunk Driver Hits Dallas Police Car

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A female police officer was taken to the hospital early Thursday after an alleged drunk driver rammed into her squad car. The incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Buckner Boulevard in Dallas.

The officer was stopped at a red light when the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban hit her from behind. Police pictures from the scene show extensive damage done to both the marked police car and the white SUV that crashed into its rear end.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital and has already been treated. Her name has not been released.

Meanwhile, the suspect was identified as 28-year-old Jose Rey Chavez-Nino. He was arrested and charged with DWI.
