ALEDO (CBSDFW.COM) – A pair of brothers from Aledo High School's Marching band are tuning up their skills and instruments for one of the biggest performances of their lives.
Parker and Austin Ferrell were selected to be part of the Macy's Great American Marching Band at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
"We've been watching the Macy's thanksgiving day parade since I can remember," says Parker.
Parker is a senior at Aledo high. His younger brother Austin is a junior.
They say it's been a family tradition on Thanksgiving day to gather around the TV and watch the parade while marveling over the bands.
Now, they'll have the chance to co-star in arguably the most iconic parade's in the country.
The brothers auditioned for their spots on the band back in the summer and were elated when they received the invitation to be a part of the parade.
They will be representing Texas, and the entire Aledo community.
The Ferrell's will join other elite high school musicians from across the country in the band and they'll have only a few days to rehearse together.
Austin added, "a lot of practice. We have the music and we've just been beaten on that for a while", about all the prep work going into their big trip.
The brothers head off to New York next week making the entire Bearcat Regiment proud.
