WYLIE (CBSDFW.COM) — One soccer game for 10-year-olds had a bigger crowd than usual on Saturday — to honor a kid who had to do remarkable things just to be there.

The game has been three months in waiting for Jeremiah Hart, who lost his leg when he was hit by a car. At times, people feared he may never return to the soccer field.

"When we got out here and saw everybody, he was very excited," Jeremiah's mom, Bridgett Hart, said.

In November, Jeremiah was hit when an elderly driver mistakenly slammed the gas instead of the brake while trying to park. The car pinned the 10-year-old to a wall."The night before his accident, we had our championship team party," Jonathan Train, Jeremiah's soccer coach, said. "And then the next day we found out that he was hit by the car — and it's been an up and down roller coaster to this point."

On Saturday he kicked out the first ball and got a big applause.

"He's just got that 'never quit' attitude," Train said. "We're just blessed to have him here again."

He handled the moment, adversity and the road to get there like a pro.

"[The hospital], it's been fun," Jeremiah said. "There was something called child life... and it had a whole lot of games."

But none of those games could distract him from this one — or his family from what this moment would mean.

"This is what he lived for," Bridgett Hart said. "This is what he fought for."
