PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - New information about a murder in Plano that played out with images posted to Facebook gives the accused killer's side of the story. Kenneth Alan Amyx, 45, claims the victim wasn't the only one who was supposed to die.

On Sunday, police went to the apartment Amyx shared with his girlfriend Jennifer Streit-Spears, 43, after her mother called them. Police found Amyx, laying nude atop the body of Streit-Spears on the floor of the bedroom. Amyx appeared deceased, according to the affidavit, but started making noises and had a knife in his right hand. When officers moved Amyx so paramedics could treat him, they found a second knife under him.

Spears had multiple knife wounds to her forearm, wrist and neck. Amyx told police that she had "chickened out" and he had to "finish her off," according to the affidavit.

On the way to Centennial Hospital in Frisco, Amyx told a fireman "Oh I killed her, oh I lost her, I'll never get her back, just kill me." Amyx also called his son and told him, "We've cut our throats," according to the affidavit.

During a recorded interview, Amyx said he was lifelong friends with Streit-Spears and that they had dated for four months. They planned to run away together, then changed their minds to wanting to commit suicide together, according to the affidavit. He said they discussed how they would kill each other for months. On the day Streit-Spears died, after both she and Amyx were intoxicated, they agreed to stab one another to death.

Amyx stated in the affidavit that he cut the back of her neck first, and then they took turns cutting each other. When asked, Amyx said he didn't cut Streit-Spears anywhere else (other than her neck). He also said she asked him to cut her harder. So he did, describing his actions in the affidavit as "like cutting tomatoes" and when he pulled the knife out blood came out all over the place.

Amyx also claimed in the affidavit that Streit-Spears told him she was too cold and weak to stab him. He then grabbed her hand, according to the affidavit, and cut himself with her hand that held a knife; cutting himself hard. Amyx said he posted photos of both of them (wounded) on Facebook and texted the images to Streit-Spears' mother.

Streit-Spears' friends were horrified to see the photos of their friends with her throat slashed. They told CBS11 they were shocked the photos remained on Facebook for more than a day before they were removed.

A spokesperson for Facebook defended their actions to CBS11, stating graphic photos are not a violation of Facebook's policy and even though they were flagged, they could not be removed until monitors determined Streit-Spears' profile was hacked.

Amyx is in the Collin County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
