Flight Lands In DFW After Security Concern
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - An American Airlines flight from Newark to DFW was forced to land in St. Louis on Thursday night after concerns were raised about a possible security threat involving a passenger on board.
Flight 1691 was on its way to DFW International Airport when a passenger told a flight attendant about some concerns over another passenger, said American Airlines spokesperson Andrea Huguely. The flight attendant told the pilot, who decided to divert the plane to St. Louis, where it landed around 9:40 p.m. on Thursday night.
"The crew did exactly what they should have done," Huguely said. "They wanted to make sure the threat was checked out by law enforcement."
The passenger was taken off the plane and interviewed by police. He was not arrested, and plans were made to put him on the next flight going into DFW, Huguely said.
The original flight finally arrived at DFW International Airport just after midnight early Friday morning.
The MD-80 carried 122 passengers and a five-person crew.
