DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Denton police arrested a 92-year-old woman and her 64-year-old son shortly before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.

The pair was blocking the entrance to the Vantage Gas Well at 1896 Nail Road.

Violet Palmer and her son, Theron were sitting in chairs.  Police say Mr. Palmer had closed the previously open gate and chained it shut and then chained himself to the gate. After asking the Palmers multiple times to leave the property, and each time they refused, they were told they would be arrested for Criminal Trespass.

Officers then cut the chain from Mr. Palmer's waist.

Ms. Palmer was helped from the chair and was escorted to the police car without being handcuffed.

Once Mr. Palmer was free from the chain, he was handcuffed and escorted to the same police car Ms. Palmer was in. Both were arrested for Criminal Trespass and Obstructing Highway Passageway.

Ms. Palmer was booked into the City Jail and then released without bond. Charges may still be filed At-Large.

Mr. Palmer was assessed a $500 bond for Criminal Trespass and a $1,000 bond from Obstructing Highway Passageway.

Denton had passed a fracking ban, but the state ruled it unenforceable.
