911 Outages Reported Throughout North Texas; Part Of Nationwide CenturyLink Outage

(CBSDFW.COM) - 911 outages are being reported throughout North Texas Friday morning, officials say. This comes after an earlier issue with 911 services was believed to have been resolved from late Thursday evening and into the early morning hours.

According to officials, the outages are caused by a nationwide issue with CenturyLink.

The outages earlier affected 13 North Texas counties, and some of those same counties are reporting 911 issues as of around 9 a.m. Officials with the North Central Texas Emergency Communications District had said at around 6:20 a.m. that the outages were resolved.

Until the issue is fully resolved, officials are asking residents in 13 North Texas counties to call their police department's non-emergency phone numbers or use text-to-911.

Here are the counties, which were also the ones affected from the earlier outage:

  • Collin County
  • Erath County
  • Ellis County
  • Hood County
  • Hunt County
  • Johnson County
  • Kaufman County
  • Navarro County
  • Palo Pinto County
  • Parker County
  • Rockwall County
  • Somervell County
  • Wise County
  • Cities of Balch Springs, Cockrell Hill, Sachse, Seagoville and Wilmer

There has been no official word on what caused the outage.
