$900k Error Forces NTTA To Reevaluate Project Designs

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An expensive error is causing delays and forcing the NTTA to keep a closer eye on projects.

The NTTA will tighten its overview of project designs after missing problems with a sub-contractor's poorly designed steel beams.

The error cost $900,000 and caused delays on the new Chisholm Trail Parkway that spans over the Trinity river and University Drive in Fort Worth.

Michael Rey with the NTTA says the steel beams needed for the project were the wrong size, making them too weak.

They hope to have repairs finished by late September.

NTTA board members will consider recovering the costs from the subcontractor responsible for the design flaw.
