7 Topical Halloween Costume Ideas For 2015
Whether you have a kid, or you're just a kid at heart, Halloween is a great time to bring out the silly side of you. Since the holiday also falls on a Saturday this year, it's also going to be a bigger party day than usual, and that goes for the whole family. Need some costume inspiration? Look no further than some of the most popular celebrities and movies of 2015—or really, should we say the classics from the '70s, '80s and '90s?
Minions
The beauty of dressing up as a minion isn't just that they're cute. There is also outfit options for the whole family, from babies to adults. The most obvious being overalls for the boys, while girls can don a jean dress to finish their outfit, or jean shorts with yellow tights. The only requirement other than wearing yellow? Make sure you accessorize with the right pair of glasses.
Cinderella
Classic Disney princesses are always in style, but Cinderella is in even more this year, thanks to the live-action remake. Cinderella's princess outfit is pretty simple, as long as you've got a pretty blue dress and a tiara, and that goes for all ages, from babies and toddlers, to teens and, let's be real, what adult female doesn't want to be a Disney princess for a day?
Star Wars
Have Star Wars costumes really ever gone of style? From Leia and Luke to Chewbacca, there are just so many awesome—and relatively easy—costumes to assemble. With the new Star Wars movie, "The Force Awakens," slated to hit theaters this season, this Halloween is the perfect time to dust off your Darth Vader and Storm Trooper helmets and pretend like you're a kid again.
Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton
No matter what side of the political aisle you're on, draw inspiration from the "looks" of the current presidential candidates. These costumes won't cost you much either. After all, do your hair in just the right way, with a comb over or a scrunchie, and dress up in a suit, or pant suit, and you're just about ready for your Halloween party.
Miley Cyrus
For a pop star costume, look no further than Miley Cyrus, who seems to offer a new costume inspiration all the time. Don't want to be so risque? Throwback to her Hannah Montana days instead. Or tape random word balloons on yourself like one of her looks from the VMA's. Just don't go for her modern day nude look—that's better left for at home.
Jem and the Holograms
It may not be the '80s anymore, but with the Jem movie hitting theaters this fall, Halloween is the perfect time to pay tribute to the cartoon girl band, who, seemingly started it all. These costumes are notoriously easy to put together: A few colorful dresses, big poofy '80s hair; perhaps a bit of hair chalk added for good measure, and you're set! Basically, dress like you're from the '80s, and maybe pair your outfit with a guitar, and you'll be good to go.
Jurassic Park
No, it's not the '90s either, but with the latest dinosaur movie, dinosaur costumes are back in style. So whether your kiddo wants to dress as a T-Rex or a Velociraptor, now is the perfect time to break out the prehistoric costumes. Want something a little less animalistic? Opt for a park ranger's outfit instead.
What will you and your family be dressing up as this year?
