7 People Injured In Shooting At Houston Flea Market, Authorities Say

HOUSTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Seven people were injured at a Houston flea market Sunday night, authorities said.

The incident happened at the Mercado Sabadomingo and that one man was detained in the shooting.

Harris County Sheiff Ed Gonzalez said that one person was hit by a bullet, which then ricocheted and injured six others. The injuries were not life-threatening.

According to Gonzalez, the man who was detained claimed the gun accidentally went off while it was in his pocket. However, authorities said they believe evidence from the scene does not match his story.

Gonzalez said the person who was shot did not know the suspect. Authorities are continuing to investigate what led up to the shooting.
