LAREDO (AP) — Officers at a South Texas border crossing have seized $628,000 worth of marijuana hidden in a shipment of plastic cups, plates and saucers.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Laredo discovered the 1½-ton smuggled pot shipment amid the plastic tableware.

Authorities on Tuesday took a closer look at the load of a tractor-trailer rig being inspected at the World Trade Bridge. A drug-sniffing dog helped lead to the 400 packages of marijuana hidden in the cargo area.

Officers seized the marijuana and turned the case over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
