6-year-old fatally shot in East Dallas just weeks after teen brother killed

DALLAS - Detectives are investigating in East Dallas after a 6-year-old girl was fatally shot on Jan. 10.

It happened just weeks after her 14-year-old brother, Ah-Bralen was killed by gunfire on New Year's Eve. His burial was already planned for this Saturday.

"I just want justice for my baby because he didn't deserve it. He was an innocent kid," shared the teen's mother.

Police said her daughter was shot just before 3 p.m. in the 2100 block of N. Fitzhugh Avenue. Police shared new information Wednesday night, telling CBS News Texas she was inside a home with other kids at the time of the shooting.

Investigators said there was an unsecured firearm at the scene. The girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries.

CBS News Texas spoke to a neighbor, who said she knew the family, and that her 7-year-old child often played with the little girl.

"God has bigger plans behind it all. God is the plan behind all of this. I'm trying to not cry. I'm trying to hold it in," shared Markia Boyd.
