Severe Weather Highlights Need To Clean Out Garage

THE COLONY (CBS11) – With all the recent hail storms and the extensive car damage around North Texas lately, many residents have admitted their garages are filled with all kind of stuff except their cars.
"When the storm was coming we were in a panic." said Brandon Lillie of The Colony.
He said his garage is filled with all kinds of random items and he only had room for one of his cars.
So he and his family had to go wait out the recent hail storm underneath a covered mall parking lot.
We actually went to Stonebriar Mall, and parked in their lower level garage," said Lillie.
The clutter inside Lillie's garage is something many North Texans say they too are experiencing, and with more storms headed towards the DFW area, many of those same people are left scrambling trying to clear space for their cars.
Tonia Tomlin, an organizational expert and president of Sorted Out offered several tips to help beat the clutter dilemma.
"I would just start with gathering like items together and just start sorting them and bringing them out of the garage," said Tomlin.
Next, she says figure out what you want to do with the items and stick to the plan.
"Whether it's donate, keep, or trash or sell," said Tomlin.
The most important thing according to Tomlin is committing to getting the job done and solicit help if needed.
"I would set aside time with your family or a clutter companion."
