NORTH TEXAS(CBSDFW.COM) - A Collin County doctor is proving you're never too old to pursue your dreams.

Chiufang Hwang spent the last three months, lifting, lunging and learning dance routines to prepare.  She stood out among more than 500 women auditioning at AT&T Stadium to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.

"I am 25 years older than everybody else is," says Hwang.  "I have to keep working out every day.  It's probably unrealistic to think that I'm going to make the team."

You would think Doctor Hwang would be content just being a successful psychiatrist.  But her Chinese heritage made her long for something uniquely American.

"When I was growing up I never went to any football games," Hwang says.  "Other people have goals.   They want to climb Mount Everest they want to run the San Francisco Marathon.  I want to audition for the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders."

She's tried out ten times since 1999.

"I love the competition. I love competition. I love being there and all of competing with everybody," says Hwang.

Despite high kicks and splits better than many women half her age, Hwang didn't make the final cut last weekend.

But she promises to be back next year at age 50.
