Rousey Facing Quick Turnaround In UFC Title Defense

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (105.3 THE FAN) - Ronda Rousey is about to have the quickest turnaround between fights of any UFC champion in the organizations history. Just 57 days after defeating Meisha Tate she will face what should be the toughest challenge of her career in Sarah McMann.

McMann is a former silver medalists in wrestling at the Athens summer Olympics in 2004. She has used that wrestling base to control everyone of her previous opponents heading into Saturday's main event. On paper, she seems to be the exact type of opponent that should really give Rousey problems.

The one unkown to me heading into this fight is McMann's stand up game. Rousey showed significant improvement in her striking over her past two fights. It's Rousey 's progression that has me thinking about how much McMann has to have also improved in that area. The issue with that is McMann has rarely been on her feet in MMA competition.

I asked Rousey yesterday how she prepared for the unkown of Sarah McMann's stand up game. "I'm prepared in every single area. She has certain tendencies that we are aware of and that I am ready to take advantage of" said the champ. "I also spend a lot of time covering my own holes".

Rousey continued "I try to spend a lot of time for every oponnent individually but a lot of the time we spend trying to improve myself"

I am in Vegas and am actually writing this at the Mandalay Bay sports book where a bunch of Canadiens just went nuts over their hockey win over us. Kind of want to punch them all right now....fight week is making me aggressive.
