2016 Preseason Landry Award Watch List Top 5

By Elliott Moore @NTXFootball

 Kennedy Brooks RB Mansfield Tigers

His silky smooth running style appears almost effortless.  He sees holes, and makes holes where they aren't.  He has the burst of speed you need to be effective.  I think him and Paulson Adebo play off each other and keep defenses on their heels.  Kennedy burst onto the scene last year and led the Mansfield team to a deep playoff run ending in the semifinals to Lake Travis.

Eno Benjamin RB Wylie East Raiders

The numbers he put up as a junior were enough to warrant an invite to the Landry Award.  He had 3,035 all-purpose yards & 45 total tds. He averaged 7 yards per rushing attempt, and averaged a TD every 9 touches.  He has spent all four years of High School with varsity experience.

Chris Robison QB Mesquite Horn Jaguars

The OU commit has shown he's a dual threat QB, but more comfortable as a pocket passer.  He's impressed at the Nike Elite 11 camp this summer.  He's following up a junior season where he threw for 3,858 yards and 44 touchdowns as he led Mesquite Horn to the third round of the 6A Division I state playoffs.

Jason Shelly QB Frisco Lone Star Rangers

Led Lone Star to the first State Title Birth in school history and only the second in Frisco ISD History.  He had 60 TDs in 2015 with 39 passing and 21 rushing.  Truly just good at everything you ask him to do.  Poised, calm, and under control of the Rangers hope for state in 2016.  He was first offered a football scholarship by Clemson as a Freshman QB.

Jeffery Okudah DB S. Grand Prairie Warriors

Jeffery has all the measurables and will be put in a great position to succeed.  When I put him on my preseason Landry Watch Top 5 list I'm envisioning him having a 1997 Charles Woodson type Heisman year from Michigan.  Create chances for him to touch the ball and lighting can strike for the Warriors whenever that happens.
