DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Two teenagers died from injuries sustained in what police are calling a possible street-racing crash Saturday night.

Dallas Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Regal Row and Irving Boulevard around 11 p.m. A black 2003 Toyota Celica had crashed into a concrete pillar supporting an overpass.

Police say the passenger, 17-year-old Andres Mendez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 18-year-old Luis Reyes, was sent to the hospital in serious condition, where he later died.

Both teens were students at Nimitz High School in Irving, CBS11 has learned.

Racing appears to have been a factor in the crash, police say. The family believes another car was involved.

The investigation is ongoing.
