2 People Shot, 1 Fatally, Inside House Near TCU Campus

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police were on the scene of a double shooting that happened just south of Texas Christian University (TCU) campus.

When officers arrived at the house in the 3500 block of Rogers Avenue they found two men inside who had been shot. Police say the suspect, also a male who is believed to be the roommate of the two victims, fled the scene on foot and is still on the loose.

FWPD spokesperson Officer Brad Perez said, "There is no signs of forced entry, so we believe that this individual was allowed inside this location. I don't know if an argument ensued or if there was some sort of confrontation that led up to the individual pulling out a gun and shooting them."

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police said both of victims were adults and were not students at TCU.

McLean Middle School and the McLean 6th Grade campus had been placed on lockdown while police searched for the suspect. Officer Perez said, "Obviously we're right now actively looking for the suspect. We want to make sure that we can bring that individual into custody and that no one else is harmed in the process."

Police did say they don't believe the shooting was a random act.

Police continue to search for the suspect who is described as a black male, approximately 35-years-old who stands between 5'7" and 6'1". The man has salt and pepper colored facial hair and when last seen was wearing a black jacket, a gray knit hat and blue jeans.

The suspect was last seen near the Albertson's grocery store near West Biddison and Alton Road.

"It's not something you expect to see on a street like this. It's pretty quiet - mostly families. I know a lot of people go to school right down the street," said Cameron Hunter, who lives in the neighborhood. "We've been keeping our doors locked for the day and keeping somebody at the house at all times."
