FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A 16-year-old boy has been shot in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Police say the boy and his 17-year-old friend said they'd found a gun in a creek earlier Wednesday morning.

The two were in a garage in the 3600 block of Hulen Park Circle near McCart Avenue when the gun went off and struck the 16-year-old in the chest.

Police say the bullet went through the boy and lodged into a wall.

They say he was alert and talking and was rushed to JPS hospital in fair condition.

Police say the incident appears to be accidental but they're still investigating.
