Police in Garland say a 12-year-old boy has been taken into custody for the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old friend last month.

Joe Harn with Garland Police says officers called to the scene of a shooting on Feb. 26 found a gun next to the body of 13-year-old Matthew Cisneros, but it wasn't immediately certain if the shooting was self-inflicted.

Harn said Monday the subsequent investigation shows the victim and a 12-year-old friend were playing with the gun and the friend didn't realize it was loaded when the trigger was pulled.

The 12-year-old now faces a manslaughter charge.
