ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - An 11-year-old boy died Tuesday night after losing control of his motorbike and slamming into a mail box in the 500 block of McQuary Street.

"Community out here right now is really hurting," said Lt. Chris Cook. "We're dealing with a death of a small child it affects everyone including our first responders out here."

The impact cracked a cement pillar in half. Arlington Police say a girl was also injured.

Family and friends created a memorial to the boy near the accident scene.

Police say they don't know exactly what caused the child to lose control of the bike or who the bike belonged to.

Police say it's illegal to operate a motorbike on the road like the one involved in the crash.

It's too early to know if anyone will face any charges.
