DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The memory of murdered dentist Dr. Kendra Hatcher lives on today.

Her friends and co-workers raised $10,000 in her memory to benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

The funds will pay for 60,000 meals this holiday season.

All the money was donated during a ceremony where Dr. Hatcher's loved ones gathered to remember the young dentist.

They said it's the start of a tradition they want to continue:

"Every single year we're going to do this for her because when she was around she did a lot for the community. She did a lot of needy families and we want to continue that," said Lucy Rodriguez with One Dental Group.

The group of friends and family released balloons for Dr. Hatcher.

Meanwhile the accused mastermind of her murder -- Brenda Delgado is still on the run from authorities.

It is believed she is hiding out in Mexico.
