DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Nearly a dozen fire engines with Dallas Fire Rescue are on the scene of an apartment fire in the northwest part of the city.

First-responders arrived at the 4-alarm fire at the Southwind Apartments, in the 9800 block of Brockbank Drive, just after 10:30 a.m.

Firefighters first on scene found heavy smoke coming from one of the two-story apartment buildings. The blaze proved hard to fight because the fire was mostly inside of walls and floor spaces.

So far, one person had to be transported to a local hospital for what officials said were injuries "after being exposed to smoke conditions."

While the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined, investigators did say they believe the fire was accidental.
