1 Year After His Murder In Dallas, Jesse Valero's Family Continues Searching For Answers
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A Dallas family is pleading for someone to come forward with information on the one year anniversary of their loved one's murder. Jesse Valero, 25 years old, was an accomplished musician who led praise and worship and his family's Oak Cliff church.
Sunday afternoon, dozens of his family and friends met at Laurel Land Cemetery for a special remembrance service for Valero.
"I was blessed to see there was a lot of people that came out," said his brother, Stephen Valero. "People loved Jesse. He was a good person. He looked out for everybody."
Valero was a singer and drummer at his family's church, the Center of Adoration. His father, Jesse Valero III, said he touched a lot of lives in his 25 years.
"We are trying to honor him on this day that was such a tragic day for us," said Valero III, who is the pastor at the Center of Adoration. "We're trying to make something positive out of it."
A year ago today, Valero's body was found beaten and stabbed outside of his apartment. His family still doesn't know who did it.
"We're trying to find answers and as a pastor, your faith is in Cod and it doesn't move, but you're still trying to get answers to the why," his father said.
Valero's family believes there's someone out there who knows something about the murder that could help Dallas police solve this case.
"If there's any information you have, please let us know," said Stephen Valero. "Just for closure's sake."
While they wait for justice to be served, they'll continue to honor his legacy.
