DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - One person is dead and a two drivers were arrested after a bizarre crash on Monday night. The incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. along Ferguson Road in Dallas.

A man in a Saturn sedan was speeding eastbound down the street, police explained, when he passed through a stoplight at the intersection with Woodmeadow Parkway. There, the 37-year-old driver's vehicle collided with a Nissan Sentra that was trying to make a protected left turn.

The crash sent the Saturn into a light pole. It took firefighters more than an hour to cut the driver and his passenger out of the vehicle. The passenger was then pronounced dead at the scene. That individual's name has not yet been released. Meanwhile, the driver of the Saturn was transported to a nearby hospital.

That driver was found to be intoxicated and has been arrested for intoxication manslaughter. His name has not been released.

But the driver of the Nissan was also arrested on Monday night. After the collision occurred, the 28-year-old woman who was behind the wheel of that car reportedly tried to run away from the scene on foot. She was quickly spotted by an off-duty Dallas Police Department officer who was working a security job at a nearby apartment complex.

The off-duty officer detained the running woman. Authorities then discovered that her Nissan was recently reported as stolen during an aggravated robbery in Grand Prairie. The woman was arrested. Her name has also not yet been released.
