ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Arlington Police Department continues to investigate an accident that killed one person on Interstate-20, near Highway 287.

The driver of a pickup apparently ran into the rear of the semi.

At one point the interstate was completely closed, but two lanes on the roadway were later opened. Traffic was and continues to be backed up for miles.

The accident, between a tractor trailer and a pickup truck, happened just before 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Spokeswoman Tiara Richard said, "The driver of that pickup truck was actually already deceased at the scene. Thankfully no one else was injured, but this is part of the point in the investigation where they try to recreate what actually occurred and what caused this crash. Accident investigators are out there right now."

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

The name of the dead driver has not been released.

Delays along I-20 continued for several hours, but were cleared before rush hour.
