'Yelp For Weed' Website Gets Higher Profile After First Pot Ad In New York Times

(CBS SF) - A website that calls itself as "the world's largest cannabis information community" hopes to become the go-to website for reliable information on the growing legal marijuana industry.

Leafly is sometimes referred to as the Yelp for weed and - like the restaurant and service review site - the portal gives users filters to help find product that best suits their needs. Users can indicate what flavor or experience they are looking for out of the weed, and Leafley matches them up with the correct strain, then tells them where it's available nearby. Each strain breakdown includes a summery, and a list of the most commonly reported effects.

The website even indicates who will deliver nearby, and even if the strain is available as an edible treat. Users can then rate the strain from zero to five stars, creating a pool of information about which bus are the most enjoyable.

The website even includes a "knowledge center" that gives info on pot terminology, responsible use and how to use the website.

The Seattle-based company ran a full page marijuana-sales ad in the New York Times Sunday, a first for the newspaper. New York state recently legalized medical marijuana.
