Woman Hurt In San Francisco Shooting

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A female victim was injured in a shooting on San Francisco's Market Street Sunday evening on the same block where a male victim was injured in a shooting on Saturday night, police said.

San Francisco police received a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Market Street at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, according to police.

Police officers and emergency crews responded to the scene and located a female victim just outside The Warfield theater who was suffering from injuries not considered life-threatening, according to San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy.

The victim was transported to a hospital and no suspect information has been released, Shyy said.

The shooting remains under investigation tonight, as does a shooting that injured a man on the same stretch of Market Street at about the same time on Saturday, Shyy said.

In that shooting, which took place at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, San Francisco police officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Market and Mason streets, Shyy said.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Shyy said.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment and was expected to survive, according to Shyy.

Anyone who witnessed either shooting or has information regarding the incidents is urged to contact San Francisco police at (415) 553-0123.

The shootings both occurred while San Francisco celebrated Pride weekend, which attracts visitors from around the country and the world for the LGBT parade and festivities.

Many of the large hotels that accommodate visitors over the Pride weekend are located within a few blocks of where the shootings occurred.
