SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A woman who was injured when she was hit by a train at the Tamien Caltrain station in San Jose on Tuesday is expected to survive, a Caltrain spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The woman was sitting on the edge of the platform and did not move as the train approached, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said. The train engineer was able to slow down but could not avoid hitting her, Dunn said.
Caltrain first reported the collision in a tweet sent out at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. The woman was taken to a hospital.
Deputies from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office the San Mateo County sheriff's Transit Police Bureau went to the scene on Tuesday to investigate the case, Dunn said.
Dunn did not have any more details on the circumstances of the incident, which caused only minor Caltrain delays.
