Woman Dies In Early-Morning Fire At San Jose Mobile Home Community

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A woman was killed in a one-alarm fire at a mobile home community in San Jose early Saturday morning, a fire captain said.

Firefighters responded at 1:51 a.m. to Moss Creek Mobile Home Park in the 2800 block of Moss Hollow Drive to a report of a fire, San Jose fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said.

Crews found the front of half of the home and carport engulfed in flames, Van Elgort said.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire by 2:25 a.m., he said.

Once inside, firefighters located a woman deceased in a back bedroom of the mobile home, he said.

She was the sole occupant of the home during the fire, according to Van Elgort.

No other injuries were reported.

The home was considered a total loss, Van Elgort said.

Fire crews were able to prevent flames from spreading to two other mobiles homes that were threatened by the fire, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
