Giants Are Longest Shot To Win World Series Despite Dominant Wild Card Game & Past Success
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Las Vegas bookies aren't buying the "every even year" theory behind the postseason success of the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants were not considered the most talented roster entering the 2010 or 2012 divisional playoff round, but bucked the odds to capture the World Championship each time. After that, and an 8-0 thumping of the Pirates Wednesday in the Wild Card round, you would think that oddsmakers would have learned to fear the beard, but no - the Giants (along with fellow wild card winner Kansas City) face the longest odds to win it all of the remaining eight teams at 10-1. Don't these guys know that Aubry Huff's 'Rally Thong' is back?
Still, the odds are a big improvement from the 14-1 line bookies were offering on the Giants before they survived the Wild Card game.
The two favorites, according to gaming website Bovada, are the Dodgers at 4-1 and the Nationals at 9-2. The Angels have the best odds of any American League team at 19-4.
